Article summary

When you sign up for the first year entering student data for the highest grade is optional.

For example in a K - 4 school having the 4th grade teachers grade all their students and run compose for their students who are leaving the school isn't a good use of their time.

Option 1: Enter Data for Current Year Digital Data Wall Benefits and Run Compose Later

If it's early enough in the school year you might want your 4th grade teachers to enter data to have data based conversations centered around the Digital Data Wall.

Option 2: Skip Data Entry

Our program does require all grade levels to compose, submit, and be set to finalized - including the highest grade level - on all the grade level cards on the admin home page.

The image below shows all the grade levels being set to Finalized - except 4th.  When 4th becomes finalized the Move to Next Year button will become enabled.

Fortunately, you can run Compose for this grade level without any students data.  The image below shows the current year Digital Data Wall for 4th grade.  Even with no students entered Compose can still be run.

After Compose is run, 4th grade can be finalized enabling the Move to Next Year button - the last step in the process.
